Homework week of 4/28/08

Middle School Humanities and Language Arts Homework
Week of April 28

Humanities
6th Grade
The first section of the rough draft of the history report was due this Monday, April 28. You will write your introduction in language arts class on Tuesday this week. The second section of writing is due on Friday.
Please note that all sections of the rough draft are to be turned in by next Friday, May 8.
Remember that a copy of your outline needs to be turned in with the writing and you need to have your notes and sources with you each day. Be prepared to work in either history or language arts classes.

7th Grade
This Friday, May 2nd, bring 2 copies of your report outline, all of your notes, and your sources to class. If you need to photocopy your outline, do it BEFORE class. You will begin the rough draft of your report in class. The first third (about 2 and a half pages) of the rough draft of your report is due on Wed., May 7th. The rest will be due on Wed., May 14th.

8th Grade

Language Arts
6th Grade Language Arts
1) Test on WW unit 8 will be on Thursday
2) If you have not turned in the pronoun comic/writing, it is also due Thursday.
3) You are to write a lit log on the book you are currently reading to a new, to be asssigned in class, partner. The partner and topic will be handed out in class on Tuesday. The lit log is d ue on Tuesday, May 6.


7th Grade Language Arts
1) Tests on WW 9 and 10 will be next week on Friday, May 9th, instead of this Friday.
2) YOU WILL HAVE A LANUAGE ARTS CLASS ON THURSDAY INSTEAD OF MATH. BRING ALL OF YOUR REPORT WORK.
2) This Friday (May 2nd), the rough draft of your class book essay is due, along with the planning sheet. You will write the final essay in class on Wednesday, May 7th. If you are word processing the rough draft, be sure to put it on your travel drive and bring it to class on Wednesday, May 7th.


8th Grade Language Arts
1. The final sections of your 8th grade project are due on Thursday, May 1st.
2. Bring Twelfth Night every language arts class

Middle School Humanities and Language Arts Homework
Week of April 21, 2008


HISTORY
1. Time to get out the presidential primary maps/charts. The Pennsylvania primary is Tuesday, with more primaries to come on May 6, 13, 18, 20, 27th.

Due in second block this week. Note: if you’ve been using a chart without a map, it’s time to update the map. If you need another copy, ask Elena or Tammy. At this point all you need to put on the map are the initials for the state names and the numbers of delegates for Clinton and Obama.

2. 6th/7th graders: Keep reading your report sources and taking notes. Your outlines are due this Tuesday for 6th grade and this Wednesday for 7th grade. See below for more.

3. There will be a China geography quiz in 2nd block this week. Block I will be tested on Tuesday, April 28th. Your already completed China map is your study guide. We’ll go over specific details in class.

LANGUAGE ARTS
6th grade
1. Literary log due on Friday, April 25th. Specifics will be assigned in class.
2. Grammar to be assigned in class.

7th grade
1. Wordly Wise 10---due on Wednesday this week.
2. Test on Wordly Wise units 9 and 10 on Friday NEXT WEEK.

3, Bring all of your history report work to class on Wednesday, 4/24. We’ll review your class book essay plans on Wednesday and begin rough drafts in class. The completed rough draft is due on Friday, 4/25. The final essays will be due on Friday, 5/2.

8th grade
1. If you haven’t turned in the proposal for the visual component of your 8th grade project, get it in NOW! You should begin working on this project right away. Remember, it is worth 30% of your project grade.
2. The final section of your 8th grade project rough draft is due on Thursday, May 1st. Yes, it’s the day after the Science Fair and you’ve known about it for a month----no excuses.
3. Go the the humanities blog.(http://synergyhumanities.blogspot.com) Follow the directions for Twelfth Night.
Using Google images, you will search for and print an image of a specific character from Twelfth Night (to be assigned in class). Due on Thursday, 4/24

Week of April 14, 2008


History
1. Study for the Great Wall game---it will take place in second block this week. Use your packet and the notes you completed last week. (8th graders---your notes are due on Tuesday, 4/15).

2. In your dynasty group you will create a poster about a city along the Silk Road. You will receive instructions in class. This is due in second block this week.

3. 6th/7th grade history reports
• Keep taking notes for your report. Work for 1.5 hours minimum this week. Due in 2nd language arts class this week.
• Fill out the new history report checklist for each assignment every time you work. Bring to class every language arts class. Remember, you need a history report folder in which to keep your work.

Language Arts
6th grade
1. Grammar/punctuation to be assigned.
2. Bring your Write Source 2000 books for report work.

7th grade
1. Bring your grammar/punctuation books to class on Wed. Complete any work assigned in class with Tiffany last week.
2. You will begin an essay in class on a literary element in your class book. You must have your books in order to work on this on Wed. Homework will be assigned depending upon how far we get in class.
3. Wordly Wise unit 10 due on Wed., April 23rd.
4. Bring your Write Source 2000 books for report work.

8th grade
1. Check your 8th grade project calendar. Since we didn’t have language arts on Monday, bring your project diary (!!!!!) and all required work on Friday.
