Middle School Humanities and Language Arts Homework
Week of March 17, 2008


History
1. 6th and 7th graders:
You will receive your report topics this week along with your first source. You will be expected to read and highlight your first source by the second block. We will review note taking in language arts classes.

2. Go to the humanities blog:
www.synergyhumanities.blogspot.com
Take the tour of the Great Wall. Write about your tour, giving specific details of your observations. This should be about one page in length. Due in second block.

Language Arts
6th grade
1. Complete The Giver by Thursday, March 20th.


7th grade
Reading schedule for Shadow Spinner from March 14th through spring break:
Read to chapter 7 (page 60) and do the questions through chapter 7---due Fri., March 20th.

Read to chapter 14 (page 125) and do the questions for chapter 8 through chapter 14--due Wed., April 2nd.

The Secret Life of Bees
You will receive your books on Tuesday or Wednesday (depending upon delivery).
Read to page 37 by Friday.
As we started in class, write post-its with questions, interesting parts, and new vocabulary. You’ll meet with your reading partner to go over these. Questions and vocabulary will be handed out on Wednesday.

2. Write your final version of your holocaust essay. You will receive the rough drafts in block classes and we will work on it in class on Wednesday. You MUST turn in your rough draft and essay-planning sheet with your final essay. Due Friday, March 21st.

8th grade
1. Complete the second proposition packet. Due Thursday, March 20th.
2. Work on your 8th grade project. The introduction and the first sections (3 to 4 pages) are due on Thursday, March 20t
