Week of September 15, 2008

History
1. All grades will be assigned reading about Hinduism in first blocks this week. Specific page numbers will be assigned after we see how far we get in class. Due in second block this week.

2. There will be a second assignment given in second block and due next week. Stay tuned.

Language Arts
6th grade
1. Wordly Wise unit 1---due Tues., September 23rd.

7th grade
1. Wordly Wise unit 1------due Wed. September 24th.

2. A writing assignment on metaphors and similes will be handed out on Wed. and due on Friday, Sept. 19th.

3. Your second literary log letter is due NEXT Friday, September 26th. You may choose your own topic based on the list of ideas in your literary log (“Whine, Whine…”)

8th grade
1. Literary log #1 is due on Friday, Sept. 19th. . You may choose your own topic based on the list of ideas in your literary log (“Whine, Whine…”)

2. Answer the questions on “Credo” by Maxine Kumin, which we will read in class. In your writing notebook, make a list of all of the things you believe in. Then, in your writing journal, write your own “Credo” poem, being sure to use the elements of metaphor/simile and alliteration. Due on Thursday, September 18th.

3. Using this same theme of your beliefs, plan an essay on “My Credo(s)”. The plan is due on Thursday, September 18th. The final essay is due on Monday, September 21st.
