Week of September 22, 2008
Humanities
1. Read pages 64 through 67 in your Hindu reader. You will also have questions to answer. Due in second block this week.
2. Go to the humanities blog http://www.synergyhumanities.blogspot.com. Answer the questions by making a comment on the blog.
Language Arts
6th grade
1. Wordly Wise unit 1 sections E and D are due Tuesday, September 23rd.
2. A second literary log letter is due on Thurs., September 26th. Refer to the form “I Don’t Know What to Write in My Literary Log” and choose a topic that fits the book you are reading.
3. A book review on a book you have read since school started will be due the week after Farm School. You need to read a MINIMUM of 50 pages per week.
7th grade
1. Literary log on any topic of your choice is due on Friday, September 26th.
2. Wordly Wise unit 1---due Wed., September 24th.
3. 1. Write 2 poems in your writing notebook. Use at least 2 metaphors and/or similes in your poems. Due on Friday, September 26th. (This was handed out last Friday)
Topic
Choose from the following topics:
➢ a favorite place
➢ an animal
➢ a person
➢ anything else that you’re interested in
Form
Use any form you wish: free verse, pantoums, recipe poems, odes…..
4. A book review on a book you have read since school started will be due the week after Farm School. You need to read a MINIMUM of 50 pages per week.
8th grade
1. Bring photos from home for your farm school journal. Due Thurs., September 25th.
2. We will read selections from your newest poetry packet in class on Monday. Questions will be assigned and due on Thursday, September 25th.
3. Choose 2 of the poems you have written this month to revise and edit. Print out the original plus the revisions and edits. Due on Thursday, September 25th. Choose at least one of these to be part of a display.
3. A book review on a book you have read since school started will be due the week after Farm School. You need to read a MINIMUM of 50 pages per week.
4. Punctuation and/or grammar will be assigned in class on Thursday and due on Friday, September 26th.
