Middle School Humanities and Language Arts Homework
Week of February 2, 2009

History
1. Complete questions on “Abraham the Patriarch”. Due second block this week.

2. Read “Exodus: The Story of Moses and the Ten Commandments” page 10 to 16. Answer the questions on page 15. Due second block this week.

Language Arts
6th grade
1. Wordly Wise unit 6 lessons A and B due Tuesday, Feb. 3rd. Complete the rest of the unit by Thursday, Feb. 5th.

2. Short story work will be assigned on Tuesday and due on Thursday, Feb. 5th.

7th grade
1. Apostrophe test will be on Wednesday, Feb. 4th. The test will require you to:

*recognize whether an apostrophe is used correctly or not in sentences
*Add apostrophes to words in sentences.
*Write down specific rules for using apostrophes.
*Write your own sentences, using specific rules given to you.

Use your two corrected apostrophe assignments, the workbook section on apostrophes in your Inside Writing book, and the rules section in this book.

2. Read “Thank You Ma’am” by Langston Hughes by Wed., Feb. 4th. A new short story will be assigned on Wed. and due on Friday, Feb. 6th.

3. A character writing assignment will be given on Wednesday in class.
Due on Friday, Feb., 6th.

8th grade
1. New due dates for the 8th grade project are on the reverse. Keep them in your project folder.

2. Questions about Twelfth Night will be assigned on Monday and due on Thursday, Feb. 5.
