Middle School Language Arts and Humanities Homework
Week of February 9, 2009


History
1. Read pages 17, 18, 19, and do the proverbs on page 21, and read page 29. Due in second block this week.

Language Arts
Sixth Grade
1. Short story work will be assigned on Tuesday and due Thursday.
2. Work in your Inside Writing book will be assigned on Tuesday and due Thursday.

Seventh Grade
1. Look at the plot map we created in class about “No Guitar Blues”
2. Create a new plot map for EITHER “Raymond’s Run” or “Thank You Ma’am”.
The required elements are in order below:
• Exposition (Introduction) (can be more than one entry)
• Problem (Conflict) is Introduced (usually one entry)
• Development of Problem (can be multiple entries)
• High Point (Climax) (usually one entry)
• Resolution (could be the same as climax, but may not be)
• Conclusion
Due one Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009. Complete in your writing notebook.

3. Bring your Wordly Wise book on Wednesday. We’ll begin unit 8 which will be due next Wed., Feb. 18th.

4. We’ll begin a character writing assignment on Wed. in class and you will complete it for homework. Due on Thursday, Feb. 12th.

Eighth Grade
1. Write a response to the literary log from your partner.
Due on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009

2. Do 3 hours of work on your 8th grade project---look at your calendar for details. No school on Friday, so we’ll check your work in 2 weeks (total of 6 hours due then).
