Homework week of 5/11/09

Middle School Humanities and Language Arts Homework
Week of May 11, 2009


History
6th/7th grade
1. Reports, reports, reports. Work a minimum of 1 hour per night this week.

Outlining and Rough Drafts:
Bring all of your sources and notes to language arts AND BLOCK classes this week.

Outlines due and bring all sources to write your introduction in class.
Tues, 5/12 6th
Wed. 5/13 7th
We will begin writing the rough draft of the first 2 sections in language arts classes this week. These sections are due on Fri. 5/15 for both 6th and 7th

The rough draft of remaining sections is due Fri., 5/22 6th and 7th
We will have more time to write in class.
Final report with display and 3 dimensional project Monday, 6/1

8th grade
1. Islam packet---read “A Century of Expansion” and do questions 1-4. Due in 2nd block this week.

Language Arts
6th grade
1. Wordly Wise unit 10-----due on Tuesday, May 19th.

7th grade
1. Read Shadow Spinner and answer questions --- check your reading schedule.
2. Your literary log to your partner is due this Wed., May 13th.
Write a literary log to your partner (to be assigned in class) on one the following topic(s)
1. How does the author use small amounts of information about Marjan’s mother and what happened to Marjan’s foot to build toward more complete knowledge of this tragedy? Use quotes.
OR
2. Write about the way the author uses both direct and indirect characterization to develop a character (you choose the character(s). Use quotes.
3. Carolyn’s group has an alternate topic, which was handed out on Friday.
Due on Wed., May 13th.

8th grade
1. Complete the reading and blog entries on The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-time Indian----due this Friday, May 15th.
2. Work on the 3 dimensional part of your 8th grade project and the display.
3. Nearly all of you have received your rough drafts and are ready to do the final revisions and editing of your project.
FINAL DUE DATE FOR ALL THE ABOVE IS TUESDAY, JUNE 2ND.
