History
1. Complete map of China handed out in block class (due in 2nd block this week for Blocks II and III and in 1st block next week for Block I)
2. Complete reading the Ancient China packet(s) to be assigned in class. Due
first block next week.
3. Update your United States primary election map. The link to the PBS site is now on the blog: www.synergyhumanities.blogspot.com
Language Arts
6th
1. An activity using your Wordly Wise unit 5 words will be assigned in class on Tuesday and due on Thursday, 12/14/08.
7th
1. Choose a literary element on which to create an art project about Night. We will discuss them in class. Due Wed., February 20th.

Art project on Night due on Wed., 2/13.
Requirements:
• You will choose a topic based on a discussion/review of literary elements we’ll have in class on Wed.
• The project needs to be mixed media. This can be an assemblage, collage with another media, sculpture, or other combinations. It cannot be a drawing or a painting by itself, but can combine those elements.
• You need to write a thorough paragraph caption, explaining your topic and how you represented your topic in your art. This should be attached to the bottom of your project (such as you would see in a museum exhibition).
2. Review the rules for Apostrophes on pages 158, 159, 25, 26, and 27 of your Skills Book.
Make a chart for all the rules. Under each rule, write 2 sentences using this rule with words from Wordly Wise unit 7. Due on Wed., Feb. 20th. There will be a quiz on apostrophes on Friday, Feb. 22nd.
8th grade
1. Write 1 villanelle on a topic in nature (an animal, plants, a season…..)
2. Write a free verse poem on the topic of school (after the model we used in class).
You may write by hand or use the computer. Due Thursday, Feb. 14th.
