Middle School Humanities and Language Arts Homework
Week of 3/3/08

History
1. Add the China dates to your timeline book. Keep writing it as a story, with illustrations in color. Due 2nd block this week (1st block next week for block III).

2. Reading may be assigned in 2nd block and due the next week. (It depends upon how far we get with other work in class).

Language Arts

6th Grade
1. Wordly Wise Test will be on Thursday – chapter 5
2. Giver – Chapters 9,10, 12 by Thursday. You will get the work for the Giver in class on Tuesday.

7th Grade
1. Wordly Wise unit 8 is due on Wednesday, March 5th.
2. Bring your Skills Book to class both days this week.
3. We’ll begin an essay in class on Wednesday. You will be expected to complete an essay plan and the first paragraph by Friday, March 7th.
4. Complete the following for Wed., March 5th.

Choose a person or topic and fill out the attached form.











8th Grade

• 8th grade project:

1. Write an outline for your introduction and the first sections of your written report by Monday, March 10th.

2. The proposal for your visual component (see below) is due Friday, March 14th.

2. A rough draft of the introduction and first 3 pages of your report will be due on Thursday, March 20th. . As you do this work, you may discover that you need to revise your original topics and questions. That’s fine, but mark the new topics/questions on your outline with an “N” for new.

3. Keep reading/researching/interviewing as much as you need to write a thorough report.

REFER TO YOUR REPORT CALENDAR FOR ALL DUE DATES.

REQUIREMENTS AND DUE DATES
1. The final project will be composed of two parts:
a. A written report of a minimum of 10 pages to 15 pages in length. It needs to be word-processed using a common font, size 12, spaced 1.5 spaces. This is worth 65 % of the grade.
b. The second part is a visual presentation and/or demonstration/presentation. This is worth 35 % of the grade.
