Middle School Language Arts and Humanities Homework
Week of September 9, 2009
Week of September 9, 2009
1. Design a book cover for your favorite summer book. You will be given paper for this assignment and we will show you a sample in class. DUE TOMORROW, Thursday, September 10, 2009
- Draw your OWN cover; do not copy the actual book cover. This is a drawing assignment, not a computer graphics assignment. Use colored pencils or markers. The cover needs to reflect something about the book. For example, you could use the character(s), a scene, ideas from the book, themes or issues, emotions the book conveys, etc.
- Be sure to include the title and author (use capital letters appropriately. The first letter of each word in a title and in the author’s name is capitalized).
- As part of your cover, write 3 reasons people should read this book. This could be worked into your design or written at the bottom of the cover – single words or sentences.
2. You will begin a project called an “autobiodoodle” in classes tomorrow. It will be due on Monday, September 14th, for 8th graders, Tuesday, September 15th, for 6th graders, and Wednesday, September 16th, for 7th graders (these are your first language arts classes for the week).
