Middle School Humanities and Language Arts Homework
Week of 1/14/08


History
1. Study every night for your history test (30 minutes MINIMUM per night)
There are 3 study guides:
*Your chapter 2 notes (original notes and last week’s second copy of your notes)

*The “Ancient Sumer” notes handout from last week (with questions on geography, sociology, language, ,education and the arts etc.) Most of this information can be found in chapter 3. Some of it is in chapter 4. Remember, we haven’t covered political science or history in class so you will not be filling out those 2 sections. YOU WILL BE ABLE TO BRING THIS TO CLASS THE DAY OF THE TEST.

*the Sumerian Idea of Life chart from chapter 4. (The pyramid shaped chart with the gods on the top and the people on the bottom). YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO BRING THIS TO CLASS. However, we will have a blank chart for the 6th graders on the test. We will give 7th and 8th graders the topic areas, but not the chart itself.

BLOCK 1 test on Friday, Block II on Thursday, Block III on Wednesday

Language Arts
6th grade
1) Wordly Wise Unit 4 - Will start in class on Tuesday – All due on Thursday 1/17
2) Grammar work as assigned in class
3) Reminder: you must now be reading a novel chosen by you but approved by Tammy. Bring it to school on Tuesday. 50 pages a week is the required amount and you must keep a book mark.

7th grade
1. Wordly Wise 6 is due on Wednesday, Jan. 16th.
2. This Wednesday you will hear Gloria Lyon speak on the Nazi Holocaust and you will view a film on this topic. Write your reactions to the talk and the film. This should be a minimum of 1 page. It is due on Friday, Jan. 18th. You will be given a vocabulary sheet to help you and notes from the presentation.


8th grade
1. Begin work on your 8th grade project. Two forms will be handed out and are due this week and early next week.
2. Your TKAM essay is due on Thursday, Jan. 17th. It must include the rough draft and planning sheet.
3. Your TKAM art project is due on Thursday, Jan. 24th.
4. TKAM vocabulary test will be this Friday, Jan. 18th. Study guide to be handed out today in class.
